Email communications ranks higher at my company. I think phones are less relied upon than in the past. We're not a hoptie company either, we're a publicly traded REIT. Audio Stationĭo you not have a server to put a PBX on? What is driving you to want to consider this route? I've seen a fair few businesses try the free PBX route, it doesn't work well. Synology is nice but this isn't a good use for it, in my opinion.

Synology, to the best of my knowledge, does not provide any support for Asterisk on there so any Asterisk or Synology update might cause problems and patches and updates might not be forthcoming. It's an interesting idea but I'd not do that unless you are just doing that for home. Which means entire performance will depend on networking and disk performance. I believe this link will be helpful for you.
I would add that realtime sync is not backup but is better to setup a backup system to the Synology and then have the Synology sync to a cloud backup provider such as Bacblaze B2Amazon S3 or Wasabi. Also, can we have any kind of versioning. The Synology will be in the future at a remote location.
